The governor of Borno state Alhaji Babagana Zulum, narrowly escaped death from the hands of Boko Haram terrorist while returning from a trip on the night of Thursday, 5th of September 2019.
TheCable reported that the insurgents attacked the convoy of the governor at Konduga while Gov. Zulum was returning from a trip to Bama local government area around 9 pm. The terrorist fired severally at the governor’s convoy but no life was lost
“Luckily the governor, his commissioners and another vehicle in the convoy escaped unhurt but the last vehicle which is an army gun truck was pelted with bullets.
Immediately after they fired at us, our men in collaboration with the armed personnel from the Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad(FSARS), quickly retaliated and thwarted the ambush,” the source said.
The attack on governor Zulum’s convoy came seven months after Kashim Shettima, Zulum’s predecessor was attacked by the same terrorist group on his way to Gamboru Ngala, still in Borno state. Sixty persons were reportedly killed and hundreds of persons taken to hostage by the terrorist in the Gamboru Ngala attack.
