Shocking as church member bags 3 months imprisonment for stealing N3500 offering money in Benin

One Mr. Godspower has been found wanting, caught and sentenced to 3 months imprisonment in Benin. The man who had the nerve to steal his church offering has gotten himself into a very serious mess as he will have to spend the next 3months in prison custody.

An Oredo Special Grade Magistrates’ Court in Benin, on Thursday, had sentenced Mr. Godspower to three months imprisonment after he was found guilty of breaking and entry.

Mr. Godspower who was alleged to have broken into the Greater Liberation Ministry Church located at James Watt road in Benin City to carry out the act. He was however arrested and brought to Justice by men of the Edo State Police Command after careful investigation and was charged to court by on a two-count charge of stealing and felony.

He pleaded guilty to the charges.

The police prosecutor, Patrick Agbonifo, informed the court that the convict stole the sum of N3,520 from the church. He said the offences were punishable under Sections 415 and 390 of the Criminal Code, Cap 48, Vol 11, Laws of the Defunct Bendel now applicable to Edo State.

The presiding magistrate, Ivie Akhere, sentenced Mr Godspower to three months imprisonment without an option of fine.
