Few persons have been reported injured after a popular and busy bridge linking former Goodluck Ebele’s home town and Elebele in Bayelsa state collapsed.
Reports have it that that the bridge collapsed in the early hour of today, Thursday, September 5, when a trailer loaded with granite tries to pass through the bridge. The bridge was said to have collapsed due to the weight exerted on the bridge by the trailer
The truck conveying granite and few bags of cement was reported to have been stucked in the middle of the bridge, thereby causing the bridge to crack and collapsed at the middle apparently.
Although it was unclear if the truck was a Dangote cement truck, the bridge is built over a river suspected to be flowing within the communities.
As at the time of this report, it was unclear if any casualty was recorded, however, the driver of the truck and motor-boy were said to have sustained injuries and are believed to be receiving treatments in an unknown hospital.
