The Uber driver whose video went viral as he was being brutalized by officials of the Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Corps (LNSC) and Nigeria Police Force during the EndSARS Memorial held on Wednesday, October 20, has filed a lawsuit against the state government.
The Uber driver whose name is Clement Adedotun demanded N500 million as compensation from the state government for the inhumane treatment he suffered unjustly on that day.
In a letter written by Inibehe Effiong, Adedotun’s lawyer, Clement Adedotun demanded for N500 million compensation, as well as disciplinary measures to be taken against the officials that assaulted him.
He also filed that the faulting officials be prosecuted according to Anti-Torture Act and the Criminal Law of Lagos State, and a written apology from the state government.
Inibehe released a statement in behalf of Clement Adedotun that the missing vehicle has been found but was found in a bad condition.
Furthermore, included in the letter is the charge that the agents of the Lagos state government broke and damaged the windscreen of his Toyota Corolla car.
According to statement, the vehicle was in good condition on that Wednesday, but when Adedotun went to the location the vehicle was towed to, it was already messed up. The lawyer, Inihebe said the implication of the spoilt vehicle is that Adedotun cannot use it to earn a living until it is repaired.
Clement’s lawyer stated that the Lagos State Government has 48 hours to give in to their demands or face legal action.
