Cour D’Appeal De Cotonou (Cotonou Court of Appeal) has ordered for the transfer of Yoruba Nation agitation, Sunday Igboho, to another detention facility.
Igboho’s lawyers filed a complaint that their client was being maltreated and that his human rights were being tampered with. According to PUNCH, he had a chain on his legs and cuffs on his hands.
Before this new order was made, Sunday was being held at the Brigade Criminelle facility after his arrest from the airport from where he would board a plane to Germany.
One of his lawyers, Salami Ibrahim, a Benin Republic-based, said that Igboho needed help to use the toilet and to eat and that his health might further deteriorate if he was not treated better.
Igboho was returned to his cell after a 13-hour hearing on Monday. The case was heard behind closed doors and the people in attendance were the lawyers, Ighoho’s wife, Ropo, and a few others.
The case is still pending for further investigation.
